Description

Located on the Smoky Hill River in central Kansas approximately 30 miles southwest of Salina. Kanopolis Lake is one of the oldest lakes in Kansas surrounded by vast open prairie. The area offers many recreational opportunities as well as fishing and hunting. A variety of game animals such as whitetail deer, pheasant, quail, prairie chicken, whitetail, turkey, waterfowl, rabbit and squirrel can be found here. Riverside Campground offers 40 campsites, 9 with electric hookup and 31 primitive campsites. Other amenities include a dump station, hot showers, playground, and river access for fishing.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance. This campground requires:

  • 2 day minimum stay on weekends.
  • 3 day minimum stay on holiday weekends.
The campground is open with full facilities between 1 May - 30 Sep and sites range from $12-$16.00/night.
An attendant is on duty during this time.
There is a $4/night utility fee at sites with electrical hookups - 1Oct- 30 Apr.
Maximum camping units per campsite: 1 wheeled camping unit and 2 tents, or 3 tents only.

Campsites 12-40 are primitive sites without developed camp pads.
Wheeled camping units and tents are allowed on these sites.
CAUTION: Sites 1 to 9 backs up to a steep river bank and may be dangerous to unattended children.

From Salina, KS: take Hwy 140 W for 19 mi to Hwy 141. Travel for 14 mi S to of Riverside Dr and follow for ½ mi E to campground entrance.
