Description

West Point Lake extends 35 miles along the Chattahooche River, just north of West Point, Georgia. The lake has a shoreline of more than 500 miles. Surrounded by forests and fields on the Alabama-Georgia stateline, West Point Lake provides excellent fishing and camping and many other recreational opportunities. The R. Shaefer Heard Campground offers 117 sites with electric and water hookups. Additional amenities include a dump station, laundry facilities, hot showers, a boat ramp, a pay phone, a playground, and a tennis court.

Alerts and Important Information

Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.

  • 2 night minimum on weekends.
  • 3 night minimum on holidays.
Attendants are on duty.
The gates to the campground will be locked every night from 10pm to 7am.
During that time, gates will only be opened for emergencies.
