San Onofre State Beach offers three miles of beautiful sand beaches for hiking. The park is also popular for surfing.
BLUFFS:
This section of the park offers campsites along the old Highway 101, adjacent to the sandstone cliffs. There are six dirt trails which access the beach, some of which are steep.
San Mateo Campground:
The San Mateo section of the park is inland, about one and a half mile walk to the beach.

Discount Pass must be presented at the time of check in.
Bluff sites are now on rservations as site specific sites.
Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park.

San Onofre State Beach is three miles south of San Clemente, off Interstate 5. Take the Basilone Road exit and follow Basilone Road until the road ends at the campground entrance station (Bluffs).
San Mateo Camping Area is located at the southern outskirts of San Clemente. Take Interstate 5, turn off at the Cristianitos exit, go inland 1 mile and San Mateo Camping Area is on the right side of the road.
