Refugio State Beach offers excellent coastal fishing as well as trails and picnic sites. Palm trees planted near Refugio Creek give a distinctive look to the beach and camping area. Park Kiosk Hours:

  • Hi Season: 8am-10pm
  • Lo Season: 8am-3:30pm

There are no Hook-Up sites in this Park!

Refugio is now Site Specific for reservations. You will select your site when you make a reservation.

Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park.

    Reservations
  • Family and Group reservations 04/01 through 11/30 each year.
  • Park is CLOSED to camping 12/1 through 3/31 (OPEN for DAY USE ONLY). Please check El Capitan SB for camping during the closure period.
  • To book a Group site you must have at least NINE occupants.

Due to scheduled Caltrans work in the area of Refugio State Beach, if you are coming to Refugio State Beach from the south, you will need to exit the freeway at the El Capitan State Beach exit and then take a frontage road (detour) to Refugio State Beach. If you miss the El Capitan exit, you will have to continue northbound on the 101 for approximately 10 miles to the Mariposa Riena off ramp and then come back southbound to Refugio State Beach.
