Description

At an elevation of 4,500 feet, Molino Basin is located 5.5 miles from the base of Mt. Lemmon on the Catalina Highway. The campground is nestled in high desert oak scrub vegetation.

Facilities include a paved walkway throughout the site to accommodate wheelchair access, 36 foot ramada covering all seven (7) picnic tables and two (2) serving tables, two (2) large group barbecue grills, two (2) large food storage boxes, six (6) cleared tent pad areas, one barrier-free tent pad, eleven (11) lantern posts, a large ground fire ring surrounded by benches, vault restroom, trash cans and one parking lot that will hold up to seventeen (17) vehicles. This site is fully accessible/barrier-free.

The Arizona Trail passes through this campground.

• Reservations must be made at least 4 days in advance.
• There is no water available in this group site. Please bring your own supply of water.
• There is no firewood available. Please bring your own firewood or charcoal. Tree-cutting is also prohibited on National Forest land.
• Be sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving. DO NOT LEAVE FIRES UNATTENDED. You are responsible for keeping fires under control.
• Remove all personal property and trash when leaving the area. Trash cans are provided for your convenience.
• No fighting or boisterous behavior. Keep noise at a reasonable level.
• Be courteous to your fellow visitors.
• Operate audio devices so that it will not disturb other Forest visitors.
• The Federal Government is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal property.
• Host is present on-site.
• Open November 1st to May 1st.
• Pets must be leashed at all times.
• No hookups.
• Trailers and RVs permitted.
• No pack and saddle stock permitted in the campground.
• The Sheep Management Area in nearby Pusch Ridge Wilderness is closed to dogs for the protection of desert bighorn sheep.
• Mountain bike access is generally east of the campground and not allowed in the Wilderness.
• Build fires only in fire rings, stoves, grills, or fireplaces provided for that purpose.
• Quiet time between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
• Discharging of firearms in a Developed Recreation Site is prohibited.
• You must occupy your site within 24 hours or forfeit.
• This is Black Bear country. To avoid putting a bear life in danger and risking the loss of some of your own property as well, please dispose of all garbage in the bear-resistant containers provided. Also, remember to keep all food out of reach and out of sight of these curious animals.

Take the Catalina Highway off Tanque Verde Road in Tucson. Drive 4.2 miles to the Forest boundary and continue 5.7 miles to the campground. The campground is between mile markers 5 and 6. All campsites are adjacent to paved roads and are accessible by two-wheel drive low-clearance vehicles, such as the family sedan.
