Description
Cabin is a 12' X 14' cedar log cabin equipped with wooden bunks (sleeping space for 4-5 people), table, benches, oil stove for heat (you must provide your own #1 diesel fuel or kerosene), and an outside toilet. Please remember to take your fuel container with you when you leave. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own stove fuel, sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, matches, cooking gear, food, lantern, toilet paper, and garbage bags.
Cabin is located at the mouth of the Karta River in the Karta River Wilderness area. Users may wish to land at high tide because the tide goes way out resulting in a long, slippery, rocky trek to the cabin. The Karta River Trail provides access to the surrounding lakes and streams. This area is popular for fishing, hiking and wildlife watching. Contact the Alaska Department of Fish and Game for fishing regulations as catch and release orders may be in effect.
