Description

The Kadake Bay Cabin is located at the mouth of Kadake Creek on northeastern Kuiu Island (pronounced CUE-you), inside a large tide flat. The surrounding terrain is a combination of grassy tidal flats and low-elevation old-growth forest. This is a modified hunter-style cabin equipped with 2 single and 2 double wooden bunks, an oil heater, woodstove, table, benches, and an outhouse. It has no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags and pads, cookstove, cooking gear, food, and #1 heating oil. Firewood is generally provided, but is not guaranteed.

Located at the mouth of Kadake Creek on northeastern Kuiu Island. Access is by boat (13 miles from Kake), or floatplane (39 miles from Petersburg). Floatplanes generally land near the mouth of the bay and require up to a 2-mile hike across the tide flat. An 18' or higher tide is required for direct boat or floatplane access to the cabin.
