Description

Proximity: The Harvey Lake Cabin is located on Woewodski Island, near Duncan Canal. From Petersburg, it is 18 miles by floatplane or 21 miles by boat. The cabin is situated at the west end of Harvey Lake (elevation 100 ft), and is a 1/2 mile hike from saltwater. Description: The Harvey Lake Cabin is an A-Frame cabin with two single wooden bunks, a sleeping loft, wood stove, a large deck, a small rowboat called a skiff, and an outhouse. It is located near a picnic site with a sandy beach and swimming area. The surrounding terrain is forested hills. The Harvey Lake trail is an easy 1/2 mile trail leading from saltwater to Harvey Lake, following Harvey Creek. The land to the north of the trailhead is private. Please respect the rights of the property owners. Activities: Hiking (easy 1/2 mile trail to saltwater), fishing, boating, wildlife viewing, swimming. Wildlife: Grouse, black bear, deer, moose, waterfowl. Fish: Cutthroat trout in lake, Coho Salmon near the mouth of Harvey Creek (August). The Harvey Lake Cabin is located on Woewodski Island, near Duncan Canal. From Petersburg, it is 18 miles by floatplane or 21 miles by boat, plus a 1/2 mile hike. The cabin is situated at the west end of Harvey Lake (elevation 100 ft), and is a 1/2 mile hike from saltwater. If arriving by boat, there is a red and white diamond to mark the trail. The best boat mooring is 50 yards south of this diamond. Boats will go dry at low tide unless anchored in this hole south of the trailhead. Map: The Harvey Lake Cabin is found on U.S.G.S.
