Description

This cabin is on a gravel spit which separates the ocean from the lagoon. Rugged and scenic land and seclusion of this cabin add to a wilderness experience. A small boat allows exploring the coast or crossing the lagoon and can allow more hiking possibilities. Because of the terrain, hiking around the cabin is limited. It is possible to walk the lagoon at low tide. Tide tables should be consulted to time the return hike to low tide as well. Blueberries and salmonberries can be found near the cabin. Wildlife include black bears, Sitka blacktailed deer, and bald eagles. The lagoon and Port Wells support many seabirds. Sea mammals, harbor seals, sea otter, some sea lions, Dall and harbor porpoises frequent the area. There is a wood stove, splitting maul, crosscut saw, wood shed, wood available (with some searching required).
