Description
This cabin is situated on the east end of Florence Lake, which is on the west side of Admiralty Island. The cabin is primitive, with no electricity, plumbing, or phone. Much of the surrounding area is private land and has been clear-cut. Both brown bear and deer can be seen in the area; deer hunting is a popular fall activity. The cabin is an A-frame with a loft and can sleep up to seven people. It is equipped with wooden bunks, table, and benches. It is heated with an oil stove, and has an outside toilet. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear, and food. Users should bring #1 heating oil for the oil stove. This fuel is available from local oil distributors. A skiff with oars is provided. Cabin users should bring personal flotation devices and may also choose to bring a small outboard motor (less than 10 horsepower due to wilderness regulations). There is a 1.2 mile trail on the west end of the lake that goes to the salt water beach. The person holding the reservation must be at least 18, and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is NOT allowed. Visitors are asked to carry out all that they bring in. There are NO discounts for Golden Age or Golden Access Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30.

Florence Lake is on the northwest side of Admiralty Island; the cabin is at the east end of the lake, on the north shore. Access by floatplane only. One-way flight from Juneau is approximately 30 minutes.
