Description

This lake cabin is accessible when ice-free, generally mid April-October. There are 2 public recreation cabins on this lake. This is the one near the east end of the lake. SETTING: Lake (elevation 194') surrounded by 2500' mountains covered with hemlock and spruce forest. Muskeg and open meadows east of the cabin. Deer and brown bear, salmonberries and blueberries. ACTIVITIES: Cutthroat trout and Dolly Varden in the lake, runs of steelhead in the spring in Sitkoh Creek, pink salmon and sockeye salmon July-August, coho salmon August-Sept. Deer and waterfowl hunting. PROXIMITY: 1.5 miles east of Sitkoh Lake West Cabin. Sitkoh Lake East Cabin is on lake's outlet stream. RESTRICTIONS: The cabin is not maintained in winter, rain gear and boots necessary, firewood can be scarce and brown bears frequent in the area. Water from stream, boil or treat before drinking. All garbage and food must packed out. There are NO discounts for Golden Age and Golden Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. The person holding the reservation must be 18 and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30. All cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table, benches, woodstove for heat and an outside toilet. There are no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags & pads, cookstove, cooking gear, and food. A skiff with oars is provided for cabin users only; bring personal flotations devices. A 2-10 HP longshaft outboard motor (not provided) enhances use of skiff.

Cabin users may encounter tour groups along the Sitkoh Lake Trail between the cabin and Sitkoh Bay.
