Description
The cabin is situated on the west side of Distin Lake, in the center of Admiralty Island. The cabin is small and has only one room; it has space only for two adults and 2 children. There is NOT enough space for four adults. This cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table and benches, is heated with a wood stove for heat, and has an outside toilet. Fire wood is provided in a woodshed near the cabin. Mattresses and cooking utensils are not provided. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food. It is a 4 mile paddle/portage to Guerin Lake and a 1 mile paddle/portage to Davidson Lake. It is a 3 mile portage to Thayer Lake from the cabin. The person holding the reservation must be 18, and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is NOT allowed. Visitors are asked to carry out all that they bring in. There are NO discounts for Golden Age or Golden Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. Access by floatplane or canoe/portage. This cabin is in a designated Wilderness area, and access by helicopter is illegal. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30.

Distin Lake is in the central portion of Admiralty Island. Access by floatplane or canoe and portage. One-way flight time from Juneau is approximately 45 minutes. By canoe and portage, it is eight miles to Mitchell Bay. This cabin is in a designated Wilderness area, and access by helicopter is illegal.
