Description
The DeBoer Lake Cabin is accessible by floatplane or helicopter only. The lake is normally frozen November through June. This A-frame cabin is equipped with two double bunks and a sleeping loft, table, benches, oilstove for heat, an outhouse, and a small rowboat with oars. It has no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags and pads, cooking gear, food, and #1 oil for the stove. Follow the instructions posted in the cabin. Cabin users who intend to use the rowboat should bring a personal flotation device, and may also choose to bring a small outboard motor. The cabin is located in an alpine valley surrounded by steep mountains on three sides. This is one of only two cabins in the Petersburg Ranger District that is located in a high mountain environment. The area offers spectacular scenery and an opportunity to hike and climb to the peaks and ridges of a chain of mountains. Although there are no trails in the area, intermediate hikers will find surrounding peaks good for day and multi-day trips. Opportunities for climbing, wildlife viewing, and photography are excellent. The valley floor supports numerous species of wildflowers.
