Description: Built in 1979, this 14' by 16' hunter-style cabin has a sleeping capacity of 6 people with 2 single bunks, 2 double bunks, table and benches, broom, oil stove for heat (#1 oil only), and an outhouse. A wooden cooler box is attached to the cabin for food storage. There is no phone access. The cabin has no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags, pads, cookstove, cooking gear, food, and #1 stove oil. Proximity: The surrounding area is relatively flat with grass, shrubs, willow, and alder growing on the tide flats. The cabin is in a small group of tall spruce and hemlock trees. Wildflowers are prominent during May and June. Wildlife: Waterfowl, shorebirds, owls, hawks, bald eagles, moose, black and brown bear inhabit the area. The tidal flats are a major stopover spot during spring and fall bird migrations. This cabin is in a designated Wilderness area, and access by helicopter is illegal.

Tongass/Wrangell AK

The Binkley Slough cabin is on the south side of Farm Island on the Stikine River delta, within the Stikine-LeConte Wilderness. Accessible by shallow draft boat, 12 miles from Wrangell or 9 miles from the boat ramp on the south end of Mitkof Island to Binkley Slough. Tides affect access to this cabin. Please consult local tide tables. Boat access generally requires a tide of 16 feet or higher, then a short walk to the cabin.
