Description
Winter travelers need to be able to evaluate avalanche and over-ice travel hazards. Closed to motorized vehicles YEAR-ROUND. Closed to horse/pack stock from 4/1 to 6/30. Three consecutive days maximum per person 5/15 through 8/31. No commercial use. The person holding the reservation must be 18. Treat or boil water before consumption. This is a high bear concentration area. Located 3.3 miles from the Russian River Campground Trailhead, this log cabin is in a fairly flat area overlooking the Lower Russian Lake. It is near the treeline at an elevation of 400 feet with scattered trees, shrubs, and brush. The cabin sleeps 4 comfortably, maximum group size is 8. The cabin has wooden bunks, table, benches, and a woodstove for heat. An outhouse, splitting maul, saw, and rowboat with oars are also provided. There is no electricity, potable water, mattresses, bedding, cooking utensils, or cut firewood. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags and pads, cookstove, cooking gear, and food.
