Camping Reservations
The Avoss Lake Cabin is situated 35 air miles southeast of Sitka within the South Baranof Wilderness Area. The lake is about 1.5 miles long, nearly 0.5 mile wide, and at 800 feet elevation. This A-frame cabin is equipped with a sleeping loft, wooden bunks, table, benches, oilstove for heat, and an outside toilet. There are no mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring sleeping bags, pads, cookstove, cooking gear, and food. Bring #1 oil for the stove that heats the cabin, generally 10 gallons for a 3-day stay. A skiff with oars is provided; bring personal flotation device. This boat is available for use only by the party reserving the cabin. A 2-10 HP longshaft outboard motor (not provided) enhances use of the skiff. Firewood is not provided for outdoor campfires. However, wood that is dead and down may be gathered for campfires. For boat or air charters, contact the Sitka Convention and Visitors Bureau at 907-747-5940 or www.Sitka.org. There are NO discounts for Golden Age and Golden Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. The person holding the reservation must be 18 and must be a member of the party using the cabin. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1 - September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party October 1 - April 30. Access by floatplane only. This cabin is in a designated Wilderness area, and access by helicopter is illegal.

Accessible mid-June through October. Located 35 air miles southeast of Sitka. Access by floatplane, 30 minutes from Sitka. For geographic features surrounding cabin, refer to USGS topographic map Port Alexander C-3. This cabin is in a designated Wilderness area, and access by helicopter is illegal.
